Lion Sabatier
The SABATIER® brand was born in the Thiers basin, the French cutlery capital, at the beginning of the 19th century from a famous family of master cutlers, who popularized the design of an emblematic shape of kitchen knife known as the "Ideal". Over the centuries, this range of knives has diversified to meet the changing needs of chefs and enlightened cooking enthusiasts alike, while respecting the knowledge and quality of its illustrious predecessors.
What is 100% forged?
Often misleadingly named, the "forged" knife is the only one made directly from a solid steel bar with a round cross-section, forged by stamping. First incandescent at 1100 degrees Celsius, then crushed by a drop hammer (2 to 4 tons of pressure per meter), the piece of steel takes on its quasi-final volume. The solid piece, forged in one piece, is then die-cut to the desired final shape (blade, tang).
This raw "forge stamp" then follows the traditional knife finishing steps. This traditional manufacturing process entails high production costs, but gives the forged knife its essential advantages:
balance in the hand,
robustness and resistance to wear,
optimization of the steel's molecular structure
